Refuge Pavilion by Francisco Portugal e Gomes

The project anticipates the rearrangement of an already existent construction annexed to a small house, in a refuge pavilion with 50 m². The implanting of the new building follows the limits of this existent construction in the west side, recycling small stone. The opposite side is rebuilt, realigned and, reusing the granite header from the best walls, is created an uncovered yard that serves...

The simple form of the two pavilions of Casa Kike belies the complexity of their geometry. Each pavilion might be described as just two walls, a floor and a roof but is, more technically, a trussed timber shell in the form of an eccentrically-truncated, irregular, four-sided cone. [archithings]
